So, just what is a Winning Attitude? Well, when it comes to success in anything, mindset is everything.
It doesn’t matter what adversities you face, a winner’s mindset is where you acknowledge the difficulty but you persevere and know you will become successful.
You believe this adversity is just a stepping stone on the road to success helping to develop you into who you need to be when that success arrives.
There are several qualities that are important to develop if you are to become a winner in life.
In order to become successful, we need to understand what those qualities are and work on developing those qualities in ourselves. Let’s start with…
Think positively, easier said than done right? I know.
The trick is to start small.
A great way to begin is by looking back over your life.
I am sure for the most part of your life you have been successful.
Oh sure, we all have times that seem like things are not working out, not going according to our plan. Sometimes plans change on their own for good reason.
A lot of times those times are actually a blessing in disguise.
So why do we let present circumstances affect how we think about our future?
One thing I do to combat this negativity that can creep in is by asking myself:
” Will this matter in 6 months?” …
“how about 5 years from now?”
If the answer is “NO” then I get those thoughts out of my head.
Do not let your mind dwell on thoughts that are counter-intuitive to your end goal.
You control what you think about so be wise about what thoughts you dwell on.
It has been proven time and time again that,
What you think about all day long will become you.
So the real trick here is to keep dreaming about what you want to be or do in life no matter how long it may take and YOU WILL GET THERE.
Do What You Love
It is so much easier to be positive when you are pursuing your passions.
What are you passionate about?
For me, it’s my husband and sailing are my 2 biggest.
We head out for a cruise on local rivers and lakes every chance we get. I myself can’t explain what it truly is but I have better sleep and life it’s self seems so much more fun and relaxing.
It doesn’t mean we skip out on work, we just work hard so we can play hard.
Enjoying the time doing what we love enhances our creativity and makes working hard seem easier and worthwhile because at the end of the week we get the reward of indulging in our passion.
I strongly advise you to figure out what you love and then spend some time as frequently as possible pursuing that which you love.
It will go a long way to helping maintain a positive attitude.
Remember life is…
… 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.
It is extremely important that you be completely honest with yourself. We can get away with lying to others but not our self.
You need to be able to admit to yourself when you are working hard, giving your all, putting forth maximum effort towards achieving your goal.
You also need to admit when you are slacking off.
Only you know when you are being completely truthful with others and we all know that strong relationships, business and personal, are built on honesty.
A sense of integrity is essential in reaching our life goals.
Honesty is key in order to grow in maturity.
In anything you choose to do in life, you must be 100% committed to seeing it through to completion.
Commitment to anything begins with the planning, preparation and everything up to and including that moment.
There is no such thing as a little committed.
You are either committed or not.
Success will only arrive in those who are truly committed, seriously.
Let’s talk a little about …
Thinking of something you are grateful for will immediately improve your attitude. I know this may seem difficult to grasp but…
Studies have found that it is impossible to be sad or mad and thankful at the same time.
I know, I know, it sounds too simple, right?
Well, gratitude is the fastest way to improve your mood.
Go ahead, test it.
The next time you are feeling down, or it feels like everything is against you, choose to be grateful for something in your life.
Whether it’s your spouse, family, friends, or even a pet, spend a few minutes about how special they are and how you are thankful to have them in your life and pay attention to how your mood changes, and it will.
Remember there are people who would love to have what you have right now, including what you perceive as problems.
This is the very reason why “one mans trash is another man’s treasure”
Ok, we need to talk a little about faith…
Hey, before you get all huffy and puffy about religion just hear me out and then judge ok.
What I mean by having FAITH is believing that it will all work out exactly as it is supposed to.
This is where you put the Law of Attraction to work for you as I explained in a previous article.
I won’t cover the whole thing here again but it goes like this…
If you want something, say you want it, ask God, the Universe, or some imaginary person for it. Then believe you can achieve it and then…
… get to work and make it happen.
Yes, I am afraid, it really is that simple.
And that my friend, is what I meant about Having Faith.
Choose Your Friends Wisely
My parents used to tell me that “You become who you hang out with so choose wisely.”
My husband’s parents used to say to him, “Don’t hang out with him, he’s a bad influence“.
Truer words were never spoken.
Ever notice that we tend to carry the same beliefs as our friends.
Change who we spend time with will affect every area of our lives.
By hanging out with toxic, negative thinking people we tend to pick up those same habits of complaining about everything.
However, if we spend more time with positive, motivated people we also pick up those positive traits.
There is so much power in proximity so choose wisely my friend.
The world is full of people who gave up on their dreams too soon. Yes, we all had our dreams, but how many of us stayed persistent long enough to achieve them.
Yeah, I know life got in the way. That life my friend is yours, the one with the dream.
The harsh reality is that when you give up something you want, you are actually programming your brain into the habit of giving up. Then the next time you give up even easier.
This means that not only will you never reach your biggest goals, but you will also have a higher chance of quitting in the future.
Hey, I don’t make this stuff up, it’s proven time and time again.
Remember quitting or giving up is a certain way of feeling regret later in life.
We would be better served to think back on why we wanted that goal and use our why as motivation to persevere and continue forward through these temporary setbacks. That’s right, where you are right now is just temporary.
Winston Churchill once said, “Never give up on something that you can’t go a day without thinking about.“
There is something we all need to explore and that is What is a Winning Attitude if we want to succeed at anything in life.
Developing and maintaining a winning attitude is something we all should be working on developing and improving throughout our lives.
We will constantly be in a state of progress.
Strive to be better each day. It’s fun and very rewarding because you reach new goals every day and have something new to look forward to the next day.
Today I am more positive than yesterday and tomorrow I will be better again because we choose to.
Find something you love my friend and do it as often as possible.
Be honest with yourself about the effort you are putting forth towards achieving your goals.
Be 100% committed, not only to achieving the goal but also to the process.
Have faith. Believe you can achieve it, believe you deserve to achieve it and you will.
If you want to be positive and motivated then you must spend more time with positive-minded people than you do with negative thinking people.
Hang out with those you wish to be like.
Be persistent. Do something every day to work towards your goal.
Will it be easy? Absolutely not, but it will be worth it.
The journey will be lonely at times but that is a sign that you are changing.
The world may doubt you and say that what you want to do is impossible, now it’s time to prove them wrong.
Your friends and family will doubt you, only until you succeed and then they will say, “I knew you could do it”
Remember why you want this and you will stay the course.
You will achieve success in whatever endeavours you choose and enjoy the journey to get there.
Once you do get there, it is time to set new goals.
